BIKE ART WEDNESDAY!

Dear Bike Art Wednesday,

I love you. Where have you been all my life?

Because of you, I have learned about The Ride Journal, a 150+ page mag that is so much more than the industry’s standard Bike Porn Magazine  to which I have previously subscribed. The Ride Journal is a delicious compilation of lovely writing and glorious illustration about bikes that simply the best of both worlds for a girl like moi.

Excerpted from The Ride:

Born, as all good things are, out of a conversation over Mexican food and Pacifico beers, The Ride is an all encompassing read. We know that most people who share our obsession with bikes don’t want to be pigeon-holed as roadies, freeriders, track racers, BMXers, XC riders or even commuters. They are just riders. So we wanted to create something for them, and also for us. Something that crosses both cycling and international borders.

The idea was to create a journal of personal stories. Bikes have changed people’s lives in so many ways and we wanted to gather a small selection of these tales. We didn’t want to give reviews or race reports, we wanted to get under the skin and expose the passion that flows through riders veins.

Now, Bike Art Wednesday, I should temper my optimisim here because I’ve just skimmed through one issue so it might be a little soon to say this (though “my people” are prone to professing love quickly) but The Ride Journal may be just as important for my soul as Chopped All-Stars. Just sayin’.

I’ve learned that hardcopies of The Ride is available at a bike shop in the city of Amsterdam, which I will be visiting in 23 short days. I cannot wait to get my hands on a copy of that book. While I’m spending time in AMS, a place which just might be the ultimate cycling city, I plan on creating some bike art of my own via photography.

Bike Art Wednesday, I know you’re a changing animal, as are we all.. I understand that you enjoy your freedom and don’t like to be pinned down, and that you may at times appear on Fridays or Mondays.. I’m okay with this lack of committment, so feel free to come and go as you please.

This could be the start of something truly beautiful*

xoxo
